Biography

After graduating from Oxford University  Sarah became a journalist. She was education correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, and subsequently for the Times and the Sunday Telegraph.  In 1988 she married a colleague on the Telegraph and decided to throw up office life to start her family.  For eight years she was children’s books editor for The Times
She covered a huge range of children’s and teenage literature over that period and was one of the first reviewers to predict the success of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books.

Over the years she has written features for a wide variety of newspapers and magazines, usually but not exclusively on family, education and faith topics.

For several years she wrote a popular weekly column, Home Front, for the Catholic Herald. She has so far published two books:  Parents on Parenting (Vermilion 1996) and Daring to be Different: Being a Faith Family in a Secular World (Darton Longman Todd 2004) and her third book, The Christian Parent’s Toolkit, is shortly to be published by Continuum Books

Sarah has four children and once they were all old enough, she began to develop her other passion: empowering other women to experience childbirth in the most positive way possible. Training with the renowned natural birth advocate Dr Michel Odent and working as a professional birth companion or doula led her to an interest in hypnotherapy and in particular its application to childbirth.

She is now a qualified HypnoBirthing® practitioner and is studying towards the Certificate in Hypnotherapy with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy

Sarah is currently training as an National Childbirth Trust accredited antenatal teacher and is the co-ordinator of the Chiswick and Hammersmith NCT Home Birth Group. Contact her on 0870 4239260 if you are interested in joining the group!
